About The Alter Ego
With a Value Score of 78.6/100, The Alter Ego stands out in Pragmatic's portfolio as a top-tier option for slot enthusiasts.
The Alter Ego is a 5-reel, 576 ways-to-win slot by Pragmatic Play themed around the classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde narrative set in Victorian London. The game features a stark mechanical duality: the base game employs a minimalist design with mystery symbols as the primary feature, while the free spins round transforms dramatically with expanding reels that can reach up to 10 positions high, generating up to 100,000 ways to win. The visual presentation combines eerie Victorian aesthetics with atmospheric soundtrack design. Key mechanics include mystery symbols that transform into matching pay symbols, wild substitutions on middle reels, and scatter-triggered free spins where red serum symbols extend the bonus round. The expanding reel mechanic during free spins is the defining gameplay element, allowing significant win potential through reel height increases rather than traditional multipliers. With a 96.07% RTP and very high volatility, the slot delivers a low-feature base game that contrasts sharply with an explosively expansive bonus experience.
